Pair of early 20th century car boys converted into lamps
Pair of early 20th century carboys converted into lamps with their original steel cages, which can be used or removed depending on the style required. Carboys were traditionally used during the 19th and early 20th centuries for carrying and storing water and other liquids. The shade holders are American-style with a pin and finial at the top to secure the steel shades in place. The shades are not covered; fabric has been draped over them in the photographs to illustrate how they could look when finished. The lamps are fitted with B22 (large bayonet) bulb holders. The height of each bottle without the cage is 55 cm and the width is 45 cm. With the cage fitted, the height is 60 cm and the width is 52 cm. The height to the top of the pole holder is 79 cm and the overall height with the shade is 92 cm. The shade measures 50 cm across the bottom and 35 cm across the top. I have covered them with old T-shirts to illustrate what they look like covered. I would say if a stretchy fabric like this was used to cover the lights. They could be covered for a minimal cost. Installation
Our lighting has all been tested and earthed but will need to be installed by a qualified electrician.
All of our furniture has been through our antique restoration workshop.
